DBOGA invites you to join our next Zoom session on From Landlocked Carlow to Greystones by the Sea: One Family’s Story of Three DIY Boats, which will be given by Joe Walsh on Thursday, 15th April at 20:00hrs.

Growing up in landlocked County Carlow DBOGA member Joe Walsh always had a grá for the sea and traditional boats. From domestic DIY jobs around the house Joe tried his hand at dinghy building and then moved on to more extensive boat renovation and restoration projects with the help of family members. In this interesting talk Joe will share with us how the Walsh family built and sailed Acorn, an Ian Oughtred designed dinghy, Airel a Heard Tosher 18 and their current gaffer, Celt of Greystones, a Heard 23. Joe will also explain why he thinks the gaff rig has an ongoing role in teaching youngsters about sailing and the sea.
