Sean Cullen - Zoom Session
3rd February 2021
(Note, everyone - not just OGA members - is welcome to attend this Zoom talk).
DBOGA invites you to join our next Zoom session on Research Vessel Keary and the Marine & Coastal Unit of the Geological Survey of Ireland, which will be given by Sean Cullen on Thursday 11th February 2021 at 20:00.
Whilst cruising the Irish coast how many times have you come across the Research Vessel Keary, ploughing her “furrows” up and down the seaways and wondered what she and her crew were up to? What type of information was she gleaning and how would it be used? What type of sonar and echo sounding equipment was the RV Keary using?
DBOGA member and Head of the Marine & Coastal Unit of the Geophysical Survey of Ireland (GSI) Sean Cullen will answer all of these questions and will provide a fascinating insight into the work of the Marine & Coastal Unit of GSI Infomar. Sean’s talk will also cover some of the survey work undertaken by the RV Celic Explorer and the RV Celic Voyager. The picture of the RV Keary and the gaff ketch Maybird was taken at the anchorage at Inishbofin, County Galway.
