Stour Rally 23rd to 26th May 2025

Areas > East CoastEvents

We hope you'll join us for some sailing and socialising on the Stour over the Spring Bank Holiday.   Starting with some useful details,, here are the rough plans:

Fri HW Harwich 2115 BST

Sat HW Harwich 0959 / 2210  BST , LW Harwich 1548 BST

Sun HW Harwich 1056 / 2310 BST LW Harwich 1641 BST

Mon HW Woodbridge 1200 ish BST

Village shop opening times, should you need them:  Fri 0900 to 1600, Sat 0900 - 1300, Sun 1000 - 1300 Wrabness Community Shop

FRIDAY: Boats arrive at Wrabness for mooring or anchoring (subject to size) on Friday afternoon or evening. Meet ashore at or near Hut 31, under the cliff, for social gathering (bring own drinks). We will finalise details for Saturday on the beach.

SATURDAY: Leave mooring and head to Mistley Quay for breakfast - bacon rolls and drinks supplied by “Tea at the Quay” (or DIY if you don't like bacon)  We can't cross the fence of course but your bacon roll and hot drink will be passed to you through a window frame in the fence! Sorry there's no veggie alternative but it will demonstrate the futility of the fence .     After breakfast, leave the Quay and head to Ballast Hill (North Cardinal, No 12) to start the “Stour Cruise” for the Thorn Trophy! We'll decide whether to use 'Dutch Rules' on Friday night. Meet back at Wrabness beach for BBQ and maybe a bonfire-in-a-box! Bring own food and drinks please. Prizegiving will be on the beach of course.

SUNDAY: After a peaceful night on the moorings (we hope), we'll plan a cruise for small boats down river (if you brought one), towards Harwich Harbour, with most of us coming back to Wrabness for a chilli dinner (subject to numbers and weather) at or around Hut 31 to finish the event. If (that's a BIG IF) the weather permits, PTK and Paul will accompany the fleet towards Harwich in two Gafflings before sailing on to Woodbridge, stopping overnight on the Deben for the “World’s first Gaffling cruise”! This will complete the long-awaited (14 years) return to Woodbridge of PTK and Paul from Mistley Quay.

MONDAY: Boats return to their home port

Entry Fee: £8.00 per boat (includes bacon roll and hot drink)

Extra bacon roll and hot drink: £8.00

Meat or Veggie chilli: Free!

Please respect the privacy of all hut owners.
