A ramble along the banks of the River Deben to explore an historic port amongst other fascinating
tales and treasures. This will be followed by lunch at Hemley Church Room and the chance to look at some more treasures excavated from the past.
Our host is local farmer and historian, Patrick Bowden-Smith whose family has farmed the Hemley area for nearly 200 years.

Practicalities:
Participants may arrive by car and park at Hemley Church, between 1000 and 1030 with tea/coffee & biscuits on arrival.
The walk will start and end at the Church, taking us to Kirton which was a mediaeval port. It’s only a couple of miles and we’ll spend a couple of hours exploring places en route.
In case of bad weather, the talk will take place in the Church Room.
A light lunch of home-made soup and bread will be served in the Church Room when we return, prepared by local caterers.
There will be ample chance to chat and discuss ‘finds’ both on the walk and also some of Patrick’s ‘treasures’ set out for viewing in the Church Room.

Booking will open in a few weeks.  There will be a small entry fee to cover catering costs.
