The very first on the water event for the East Coast OGA was held on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Our hosts were Slaughden Sailing Club near Aldeburgh. The club put up a marquee for us to provide COVID-19 safe briefing space....
OGA East Coast Race
The first ever ‘Old Gaffers’ race was held on the Solent in 1959, with just 13 boats. A similar race was held on the East Coast of England in 1963....

Swallows and Amazons 2015
The weather can make or break an event, and this year the sun smiled down on the Walton backwaters while a perfect sailing breeze made for an idyllic small boat race. With so many great pictures to choose from it was hard work cutting the number down!

Free the Quay at Mistley
Mistley Quay was fenced off in 2008 and a campaign group 'Free the Quay' has protested to have the fence removed. The East Coast OGA has supported the campaign by sailing up to the Quay during their summer cruising events....
Tollesbury Rally
Tollesbury Sailing Club has hosted the East Coast OGA Tollesbury Rally as the first event of the season since 2014. Gaffers are made most welcome on Friday evening, bringing a range of boats trailed behind cars and vans....
East Coast Race 2018
East Coast gaffers returned to the Stone Sailing Club on 21 July 2018 for the 55th East Coast Race. With very light winds, the conditions were similar to those in 1963 when two of the 2018 participating boats also took part: 'Kestrel' and 'Fanny of Cowes'....
A perfect weekend at Aldeburgh, 2019
8 boats and 12 people attended the first Aldeburgh small boat rally, 13 - 15 September 2019 and were blessed with nearly perfect conditions.
