A stormy Aldeburgh Rally, 2020
The very first on the water event for the East Coast OGA was held on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Our hosts were Slaughden Sailing Club near Aldeburgh. The club put up a marquee for us to provide COVID-19 safe briefing space.
On the Saturday, with winds gusting to force 7, and rain in the forecast, the boats were launched and anchored but discretion proved the better part of valour for most. One brave soul, on his first attendance at an OGA event and with a borrowed sail went out and did the Association proud.
Sunday offered dry weather with little more than F5 to contend with. 6 boats ventured out and made it some distance up river for a lunchtime picnic.
