Friday 30th January
Meet at The Alma Inn and then
1800 onwards - Dinner at the Lambards Salt House (next door)
The Alma Inn and Dining Rooms is in the centre of Harwich and has been serving ale to the citizens, sailors, soldiers and farmers of the wind that passed through since the 1850s. They are just a few minutes walk from Ha'Penny Pier, The Pier hotel and Harwich Town Sailing Club.
The Dinner will be served in the dining room next door. This has been reserved for the OGA but has limited spaces. We won't all sit down together - book your time on the evening.
Please book your place on the booking form. We will not be taking menu choices - you will select from the menu on the night. The £5 charge on the booking form will buy a £5 voucher which secures your place and can be redeemed against the cost of your meal.

Harwich Town Sailing Club
1400 - 1800 Drinks, AGM, Prizegiving and Photographic Competition
2030 - 2300 Music and Bar
Harwich Town Sailing Club is situated on the River Orwell just to the South of the Navyard with superb harbour views. It was established in 1961 as part of the explosion of dinghy sailing in the 1950s and 1960s. The shallow bay off Dovercourt forms an ideal area for dinghy championships and training programmes.
On the Saturday the bar will open at 1300. The AGM will start at 1430 and will be followed by the Annual Awards and the prizes for the Photographic competition. The bar will close at 1730 to give people time and an incentive to make their way up the road to The Pier Hotel for dinner.
The AGM will be available on Zoom as in previous years. The link will be sent to all members by email in January.
The Pier Hotel
1800 for 1830 Dinner
The Pier Hotel looks to the North, over Ha'penny Pier, towards Shotley. The main building was built in 1864 as a hotel for passengers travelling to and from the Continent. In the late 1990s the hotel expanded into the buildings of the old Angel Inn next door, which dates from the 1700s.
Booking and choosing from the menu on the order form is essential for the dinner.

Harwich Town Sailing Club
2030 onwards
We will return to Harwich Town Sailing Club for convivial gaffer talk, the bar and music. We will be entertained by Black Deep Shanty Crew, Claudia Myatt on her Celtic harp (https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMBfroOoJLH/) and by each other as we join in the famous Black Deep Shanty Audience Particpation.

The bar will be open on the Landing Barge Kitchen which forms part of the Harwich and Dovercourt Sailing club facilities. A light buffet lunch will be available. Please book your ticket on the booking form.
The Landing Barge Kitchens were built to supply the D-Day invasion force with meals, operating off the beaches. 79ft long, 21ft beam and with a 3.5 draft they had their own engines.
