From NE Acting President, Jim Bell

2nd February 2021

‘The near & further future of the OGA North East Area.’

The NE area report to the ACM & AGM should be published in the Spring edition of the Gaffers Log. The main points being:

An Area General Meeting in March 2021 when I shall retire as President. The Area AGM to be held at the end of September 2021.The dinghy programme to continue as & when general restrictions allow.Outline planning is under way to organise sailing & social events for 2021. (probably between July and September).

We are committed to organising the 2022 National AGM at Newcastle.Proposals to hold a regatta in summer 2022 incorporating small boat events.Participation in OGA 60, including the RBC.

The future of OGA(NE) seems secure and settled. I am relinquishing the helm but intend staying aboard. We do need more hardy souls to share in bearing the light load of managing the Area. May I please ask anyone who wishes to join the crew to get in touch.

My sincere thanks to all who continue to make being the OGA (NE) worthwhile. Lets all remember why we do it – and keep on enjoying it.

Jim Bell

Acting President OGA(NE)
