The Clywedog event used to be a firm favourite for Small Boat enthusiasts.  Regrettably, during Covid, the event slipped off the calendar.  That’s all about to change as Richard Craven (a member at Clywedog) is keen to resurrect the event and got in touch with me - Mike Dixon, the Small Boat Secretary.

We’re delighted to say that the Committee of the Clywedog Reservoir Sailing Club (CRSC) are very keen to welcome us back. https://clywedogsailing.org.uk/ 

Where is Clywedog Reservoir? 
More or less in the middle of Wales, in Powys.  The Sailing Club is on the southwestern shores of the reservoir about 5 miles northwest of Llanidloes.  Googling the CRSC doesn’t give a precise postcode but does give a lat. and long. – which won’t phase sailors but may prove a challenge for the satnav. The SY18 6NX postcode may be useful as will the What3Words  https://w3w.co/massaging.newsreel.plump .
The reservoir is getting on for about 1000 feet above sea level.

When is the event going to take place? 
Sailing will take place on Saturday 25^th and Sunday 26^th July – relatively short notice – but we hope sufficient notice to pique interest.

Outline programme
We stress that this event is going to be low key, with the emphasis very much on enjoyment - so more cruise in company and low key racing activities rather than just racing.  We’re keen to put as much effort in the social off the water activities as we are the on the water activities.  If anyone has musical talents and an instrument to demonstrate their talents, please come prepared!
Friday 24^th July                        Arrive afternoon.  Evening social
Saturday 25^th July                   Day sailing.  Evening social
Sunday 26th July                     Day sailing, followed by pack up and leave, or social evening and
Monday 27^th July                     Depart morning.

Camping
There is ample room at the CRSC for Motorhomes/Camper vans and for tents.  There are no electric hook up pitches.  Access to the Clubhouse will be available.

Catering
There is no catering laid on, nor is there a bar.  Which means that you have to be self-sufficient in that regard.  However, there is a galley area where food can be prepared and cooked.  As it is a d.i.y. facility, users are expected to leave it spick and span.

CRSC ‘rules’
We have been advised that all visiting boats must have £5,000,000 Third Party Liability Insurance and that visitors, whilst afloat or on the pontoon must wear either a buoyancy aid or a lifejacket.

Costs
All costs are on the basis of money in – money out.  In other words, the OGA is not charging a fee for attendance.  All the money raised through fees goes to CRSC.
Membership day rate                   £8 per person per day
Camping                                      £10 per person per night.
