The Solent Gaffers Summer Race Series is made up of a number of indivudal events, organised by us and others. It reflects the increasing numbers of classic sailing regattas in our area, that value gaffer participation. It is important that we support these events, or they will fade away again.

Here’s how it works:

1. All Solent Gaffer members entering either of our 2 main races will automatically be entered into the series. That is:
   • Yarmouth Gaffers -  15th June 2024
   • Annual Race -  Lymington 6th-8th September 2024
2. There is no entry fee for the series!
3. Participate in as many gaffer races on the Solent as you can.
4. Scores from the following races count towards the series
   • Cowes Spring Classics - First race of the event
   • Yarmouth Gaffers Regatta - Saturday race
   • Cowes Classics Week - Thursday race (or previous race run, if Thursday is cancelled)
   • Annual Race
   • Hamble Classics Regatta - First race of the event
   • Centenary Chase
5. Your 2 worst scores will be discarded. Note - You are likely to score badly at events you do not attend!
6. You may not discard both the Yarmouth Gaffers Regatta race and the Annual Race. You may discard either one. If either race is cancelled, you may not discard the other.
7. A weighting system may be applied to balance results in races with large fleets against smaller fleets.
8. The lowest score becomes ‘Commodore’ for next year.

Round The Island Race

And don’t forget the world famous Round The Island Race. It’s not part of our series, but a great day out with 3 gaffer classes for gaffers of all sizes.
