Falmouth Classics and Helford Rally, 2018
The Falmouth Classics goes from strength to strength and 2018 was no exception.
There was a great programme with racing on two days and plenty of social activity too. With little wind on the final day most boats had all canvas up making an excellent view for the many spectators.
Over 200 boats attended, a fatastic turn out.
The Helford Rally followed straight after the Falmouth Classics and was also a great success.

South West Gaffers Festival of Sail 2018
The relocation of our Annual Rally proved a great success.
Racing in Plymouth Sound was good fun as was the trip up the Hamoze past the Naval Yards up to Saltash Sailing Club.
In addition to fantastic sailing social activities were virtually non stop. Food and music at the adjacent Mountbatten Sailing Centre was a real highlight. A pontoon party the following evening broke only for food and continued afte rthe sit down meal.

Cornish Crabbers visit & Cornish lunch
In February 2018 South West Gaffers visited the Cornish Crabbers factory on the Camel.
Peter Thomas, Managing Director of Cornish Crabbers outlined the 50 years history of Crabbers which started in Rock as Westerleys building Wayfarers.
The first Crabber built was the 24 foot Mark 1, which proved a great success, many are still around. It is of course the Shrimper 19 thatt made the company's name with Shrimper groups established all around the country.
A larger Shrimper 21 is now in production and looks set to be another very popular design.
The tour around the works proved extremely interesting and a full account was published in the March edition of The Dog Watch.
The tour was followed with an excellent lunch at the Rock Sailing and Watersports Club.
