Virtual Fitting-out Lunch: a talk by Barbara Bridgman on the Tamar barge "Lynher"
The South West Gaffers normally hold our Fitting Out Lunch in early April.
In April 2021 we were unable to hold a face-to-face meeting but instead held virtual Zoom based event.
We were delighted that Barbara Bridgman was finally able to make a fascinating presentation about the Tamar barge 'Lynher', originally scheduled to take place at our cancelled meeting in 2020.
Barabara's talk was recorded and the link is here.
Anywhere but the Horn: Zoom presentation by Mike Forward
President of South West Gaffers Mike Forward gave an interesting presentation on Zoom to fellow members in April 2021.
Mike recounted many fascinating tales from his years as a professional seaman. As you might guess from the title, his journeys took him to most parts of the globe, with one notable exception.
The presentation was recorded and can be found here.
SWG Working Sail 'Pellew' tour.
In February 2020 a group of South West Gaffers were privileged to have a conducted tour of Luke Powell's new 68" pilot cutter "Pellew" as she approached completion prior to her launch a few weeks later.
The visit was organised by Don Garman and his full report appears in the March 2020 edition of Dog Watch (No. 39).
The photographs in this gallery were taken by John Gallagher.
Pellew's build is subject of the fascinating photographic documentary book 'From The Loft Floor To The Sea'
Visit Working Sail's website for more details of Pellew here
