About Fleets
Fleets are collections of boats. Logged in members can see the fleets and create and edit their own. Fleets can be private to a member or shared with everyone else. Possible uses for fleets are:
- Your long-list or shortlist of boats you are interested in buying
- The boats attending an event or taking part in a race
- All the boats with home port in Scotland
- All the boats owned by Dublin Bay members
Fleets can be used:
- as additional filters on the Boat Register home page
- On any page on this website
- On any website where additional javascript can be added
- To export a subset of the boat register data
You can see an example of a fleet embedded on a page at Scotland Area Boats
To do this we put the following code on the page:
< <fleet:OGA Scotland:open:gallery> >
Replace "OGA Scotland" with your own fleet name and leave out the spaces between the < and > symbols
Creating Fleets
To create a fleet, you need to mark some boats. You mark a boat by clicking on the little square at the bottom right of a boat’s ‘card’. When you click, the square gets a tick mark.

If there are any shared fleets, the Fleet dropdown box will be visible.
When one or more boats are marked, and no fleet is selected, a button appears to allow a personal fleet to be created:

Clicking the New Fleet button pops up a form to name and create a fleet.

Once created, the fleet appears in the Fleet selection box. You fleets appear first, followed by any shared / public fleets.
If a personal fleet is selected, and there are marked boats, the New Fleet button is replaced by a button to add the marked boats to the Fleet.

If the marked boats are already in the fleet, the button allows the fleet to be updated to remove those boats.

Updating Fleets
If a fleet is defined by the filters you had in place when you created it, it will dynamically adapt to changes in the register. If you want different filters, just make another fleet.
This isn't as easy as we'd like.
Exporting Fleets
If a fleet is selected in the boat register main page, there will be an Export button.

Clicking on the export button provides four options:

The options work as follows:
- Spreadsheet for boats attending leaflet
- HTML for boats attending leaflet can either download or open in a new tab.
- Speadsheet for Race Officers
