RBC60 Map
This map has been developed to show the position of boats taking part in RBC60, both circumnavigators and boats attending one or a few ports.
The data is collected using a combination of AIS and WhatsApp.
We welcome all OGA boats to show themselves on the map. Boats have to be on the Boat Register. If your boat isn't on the register, you can add it.
If you have transmit AIS, send us your MMSI and we will add you. AIS data is only as good as the network of land based receivers that report their data. The OGA is using the aishub.net network for this map.
If you don't have AIS transmit, you can report your position using WhatsApp.
For example, if your boat is Robinetta with OGA Number 315, message 07818 329421 with the text 'show Robinetta 315'. This will associate your number with your boat. If there is only one boat on the register with that name, you don't need the OGA number.
Then whenever you share your location to the same number it will move your boat there.
She will vanish if the location isn't shared again for 6 days.
If you want to be hidden from the map before that just send 'hide'.
If you share your location again she will become visible.

We'd love feedback on all three systems. So far, it's clear that MarineTraffic has better coverage than VesselFinder and VesselFinder has better coverage than aishub.net. It's also clear that in Scotland, only the manual updating by skippers has worked really well.
