Building Jig

The hull is built over a jig. The moulds and spacing frame has been CNC cut in the same way as the ply panels.

The MDF needs bracing and raising from the floor to a working height.

The prototype used 4" * 2" CLS from the local timber yard to build a frame. The spacing MDF is then screwed to the sides. The frame is then levelled to the floor and the legs added.

Each mould is set up spacing frame in order. Bracing between the moulds keeps the jig rigid.

The edges of the moulds are covered in packaging tape or similar to prevent the hull panels sticking to the jig.

A spacer is used to set the positions of the fore and aft cockpit bulkheads.
