The blade can be made from solid laminated timber or 24mm plywood. The aerofoil section on the drawing is suggested but the blade can be shaped as required.

Rudder fittings

The top fitting on the transom should be a transom gudgeon to allow an oar to clear it if the boat is being sculled. The top rudder fitting needs to be a pintle with a short strap to fit across the stock. Suggested part numbers for the rudder fittings are given on the fittings list but any suitable alternatives can be used.
