The mast, boom and gaff are made from timber. The sections have been calculated using Douglas Fir rather than the lighter 'Sitka Spruce' Do not substitute for any other timber than specified in the class rules.

Timber Supply

Douglas Fir, also known as Coast Douglas Fir and Oregon pine, is available in the UK in two grades, 'clear & better' and 'spar grade'. Either grade is suitable though clear & better may have more knots or resin pockets.
