Why Restore Charity?
27th March 2021
We are sharing a really important message from an OGA member, Chaloner Chute (Solent):
"One of the reasons we are rescuing & restoring "Charity" a 1932 Deben Cherub, is because it will be a celebration as I am one of the lucky survivors of Prostate Cancer, which I endured 5 years of treatment & recovery; sailing was mandatory therapy! So, we owe it to ourselves & the boat to get back out on the water safely and celebrate with a lovely boat we know well, and feel confident in handling once again. We are in our our 70s, and always mindful to keep a boat that we can manage.
Sadly, 1 in 8 men get this disease and I found myself making a documentary film about it all, to help men and their partners.
We have finally finished the film and it kicks off with Stephen Fry and Bill Turnbull. We have been sharing & distributing it across the web, forums, national & international cancer organisations and support groups as well as trying to reach male audiences."
