Ed Maggs - Zoom Session

20th November 2020

(Note, everyone - not just OGA members - is welcome to attend this Zoom talk).

DBOGA invites you to join our next Zoom session on Sybil, Talis II & Betty Alan. Three Boats And How They Brought Ed & Frances to the South West of Ireland, which will be given by Ed Maggs on Thursday 10th December at 20:00.

Frances Edwards & Ed Maggs are clearly the most incompetent cruisers, for they have completely failed in their modest ambition of a circumnavigation of the British Isles by stalling on the West Coast, and settling down for good in South Kerry. Ed will tell the story of how they ended up here, talking along the way of three boats which contributed to this gravitational pull: Sybil of Cumae, a Fife 36 foot linear rater, at one time owned by Henry Donegan Jr., son of the famous Harry; Talis II, owned by Ed's Dublin-born grandfather, and which has so far survived three complete sinkings, Betty Alan, their own boat, a genuine fake of a gaff ketch, now based in Glengarriff.

DBOGA Fundraising for Howth RNLI: Pre-Covid, we listened to talks together at Poolbeg while passing the Yellow Welly around for your 5 euro donation. In Zoom Land we can’t do that but the RNLI urgently needs funds. Please click here (or use the QR code on the right) to dob your 5 euro in. Thank you.
