This very popular annual event, formerly known as the August Cruise, will start with the Annual East Coast Race at Stone Sailing Club on the River Blackwater, which includes a race for small boats.
The plan for this year's Summer Cruise is:
Saturday 27th July - East Coast Race, and small boats race. Meals and prizegiving in the Stone Sailing Club.
Sunday 28th - Two Rivers Race to Brightlingsea, moor on the Heritage Pontoon. Judging for the Concours d'elegance then Safari Supper.
Monday 29th - Gafferteering, finish at Osea Island for a beach BBQ.
Tuesday 30th - Lock into Heybridge Basin on the morning tide, and spend the afternoon relaxing in Maldon before the legendary brewery tour!
Wednesday 31st - Lock out of the Basin, then Ladies / Junior Helm races to finish at West Mersea, with a meal ashore.
Thursday 1st August - Passage Race to the River Crouch, mooring at Fambridge.
Friday 2nd - Jump onto the smaller boats and sail up to Battlesbridge for the Commodore's Lunch at Roy Hart's. Back to Fambridge for the evening.
Saturday 3rd - Crouch Race, finishing at Burnham. Final dinner in the Royal Burnham YC with John and Mario playing.
Sunday 4th - Sail home.
Small boats are welcome for all or part of the event, but the passage from the Blackwater to the Crouch may not be suitable for some small boats depending on the weather conditions. Please contact the organiser asap if you are considering entering a small boat.
