An early season gathering for those who have got themselves afloat already.

On  mid May weekend, we have a rally and walk in Chichester Harbour.
Based around Chichester Marina, the intention (weather permitting), is to do a few gentle sails locally within the harbour; perhaps anchoring at East Head for lunch. In addition, we will have a walk in local country side.
On Saturday evening there will be an informal supper at Chichester Yacht Club.
For those with trailable boats, the marina has launching facilities and there are B&B options nearby too.

Chichester is a great harbour for dinghy sailing.

OGA Solent Area Chichester Rally and Walk Weekend – May 17-20 2019

Simon D’Arcy and Chris Lane have had an initial discussion about what options might be available for OGA Skippers and Crew when they visit Chichester Harbour on this long weekend.  Here are some ideas for both water and land based activities.
There are many places to visit by sea and land around and near Chichester Harbout– and plenty of anchorages too including one, at East Head, within easy reach of a beach which can also be reached by car or bicycle. Bicycle hire is available at Chichester marina.
Chichester City is just 3 miles from our base at Chichester Yacht Club (  and Buses pass the end of the marina entrance north towards the city and south to Wittering every 15-20 minutes.
There are a number of good pubs serving food in the local area in addition to the CYC restaurant and the Boathouse Café at the marina.
The Crown and Anchor at Dell Quay is an easy 40 minute walk in one direction and the Ship at Itchenor is a similar distance in the other direction;  both avoid road traffic

Berthing facilities will be reserved for the Rally at Chichester Marina ( where overnight visitor charges start at £24.80 for boats up to 8m LOA + £3.10 per metre thereafter.  Use of the marina slipway for launching and retrieving boats costs £32.25 at Chichester Marina in addition to overnight berthing but only £5 per day from the Conservancy Hard at Itchenor (

The Harbour Conservancy website contains useful details about walks and cycle trails around the Harbour plus other interesting information.
