The Dog Watch
SCROLL below to read it!
The South West Gaffers, newsletter / magazine, was published four times a year but as News and Events are now regularly updated on teh SW Area of teh OGA website, this is reduced to twice ayear, before and after the sailing season. Each issue is emailed to all SW Area members. It can be read on a computer, tablet or telephone, or printed, if desired, to read at leisure. Like our section in Gaffer's Log It still features some news, race and cruising reports, sailing anecdotes and the occasional technical article. "Dogwatch" will be sent to any other OGA member, who has expressed interest on receiving emails, from the SW Area, of the OGA on the Members Area of the National OGA web site.
Please contact, SW Dogwatch Editor, and / or SW Secretary to submit an article or enquire about advertising.
Copy is requested by the end of February and September for publication in the Spring and Autumn.
South West Gaffers WhatsApp Group
The South West Gaffers WhatsApp group exists as a safe place for Members to coordinate sailing activities in the Area and communicate with each other. All SW OGA Member, and other OGA Members, perhaps planning to visit the South West. are encouraged to join.
To join, you will need to let the SW Secretary have your name and your OGA membership number, as well as a mobile phone number. It is helpful if any messages show who you are and the name of your vessel, if any. We also suggest that you set your device to show images at full resoloution. Please note that any images used on or from the WhatsApp, could be used by the OGA and should be atributed to the image's author, if not yourself.
The Main OGA has a Facebook Page
"OGA - The Association of Gaff Rig Sailing"
There are other groups of more general interest and some members have their own Facebook pages.
Instagram feed
The Main OGA Instagram Feed is to be found at: oldgaffersassociation1963. This may be of interest to any Members and is moderated by the National OGA.
There is also a, currently dormant, Instagram feed, for the SW Area, to share photographs and narratives of SWG member's sailing activities to a global audience. Instagram users can follow this at southwestgaffers.
